This year we are holding auditions on the 16th and 17th of December for the entire 2018 season which will cover both the Easter and Summer courses. The audition is nothing to be nervous or worried about! The audition will last about 15 minutes and we ask you to prepare two contrasting pieces which we will most likely hear short sections of, followed by a short piece of sight-reading.

Easter

The Easter course will have a pre-course rehearsal day on the 4th of March, followed by the course which will run from the 30th of March to the 7th of April inclusive of two concerts. The first concert will be on the 6th of April at the RSNO Centre, Glasgow, and the second concert will be on the 7th of April at the Usher Hall, Edinburgh. The conductor will be James Lowe, and the soloist will be clarinettist Julian Bliss who returns to the orchestra after more than ten years. The repertoire will include Wagner’s ‘Good Friday Spell’ from ‘Parsifal’ and both of Manuel de Falla’s ‘Three Cornered Hat Suites’. The players subsidised fee will be £295.

The first concert will be on the 3rd of August at the Beach Ball Room, Aberdeen as part of the Aberdeen International Youth Festival, and the second and third concerts will be on the 4th and 5th of August as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The conductor will be Sian Edwards and the soloist and repertoire will be announced shortly. The players subsidised fee will be £350.
